In order to maintain a capacity to be inspired, to be moved, to have room to love, to have resources to give and to have margin in our lives to accomplish what we are called to..... WE MUST CREATE SOME MARGIN FOR THESE THINGS TO COME ALIVE! This is why we have committed to remove 1 thing from our lives a day for a year. If it requires space, maintenance or time it is currently at risk....

Blessed or Excess?
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? (1 John 3:17 NIV84)

EDP Item #19: pile of keepsake shirts
Reason: I have been hanging on to many of these because they either remind me of an era of life or were from something I was a part of. I simply won't wear them though.
Destination: Donation
Comment: imagine the people we could help with the money we spend on making T-Shirts for fundraisers that help people.

EDP Item #18: Layers De Rectangles Original Painting
Reason: we don't have these colors in any room in our home, I have way too many of my own paintings sitting around.
Destination: auction for fund raising.
Comment: I painted this at a time when I realized I should paint something that someone else might want to hang up in their home. Maybe that person is you? Any bidders?
I think it's around 18 X 36

EDP Item #17: assorted jewelry
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
EDP Item# 16: egg digital photo frame
Reason: I'm sure I got this from work at some point but I have never even opened it until now. It might be a good item for someone's desk but I don't need anything else sitting on my desk.
Destination: I will pass this lovely item along to someone at one of my events at work.
Comment: This is the kind of giveaway item that companies spend their money on, then give away for free to get their name "out there". Makes me laugh :)

EDP Item #15 a&b: Bedside table drawer items
A:
Reason: All i really need is a few key items in the drawer next to my bed. I don't need 35 pens, 5 magazines, old drivers license, 4 blockbuster membership cards, every credit card I ever signed up for, keepsakes ect...
Destination: Mostly recyclables but a few random scraps of trash
Comment: I sure didn't have to go far when I got up this morning to find something to remove from my cluttered life. I just reached over and pulled open this drawer.
B:
Reason: Really though, I wanted to focus in on these specific items from my find this morning.
You may notice:
4 Blockbuster Membership Cards (all in my name)
7 Credit Cards from accounts I haven't used in years (including the Whitehall Card I used to purchase Carries engagement ring 10 years ago :)
4 metal business card holders, WHAT??? That's gotta be some kind of joke.

Destination: Shredded all the cards for recycling but have no idea what to do with the Business card holders. Will probably have to throw 1 away and donate the other 3
Comment: This is an un-shining example of how we not only have too much stuff; we actually have too many repeats of the same stuff. I can tell you that I never used the Batz Maru, Basketball themed business card holder for anything

EDP Item #14: 14 consumerism category weekly emails
Reason: the last thing we need is more worldly influences trying to tell me what I should do and buy
Destination: unsubscribed permanently from weekly bombardment of consumer bologna.
Comment: yes, I may miss out on a once in a lifetime deal or fail to maximize my purchasing power but at least I will be seeking what I need rather than some computer telling what I need.
See this video for more inspiration.

EDP Item #12: Plastic Cube
Reason: Not using any more.
Destination: Hmm...maybe Jody's Plastic Crap Tree if she wants it Otherwise donation item.

EDP Item #11: Tanning Membership
Reason: Un-necessary and waste of money
Destination: n/a
Comment: I have had a tanning membership for the last 5 years. I rarely use it but pay a monthly membership fee. The last time I went was about a year ago. By canceling my membership we are saving over $300 a year!

EDP Item #10: 2009 editions of Relavant Magazine
Reason: More clutter that I won't really get to making use of. I do need to read that cover article on the top before i let them go though.
Destination: will leave them in the computer lab at the Samaritan Inn in hopes that someone will get inspired by them.
Comment: why do we keep old magazines around anyway? They come out with a new one every month for a reason.
Oh yeah, and I have to be honest they dated back as far as 2005

EDP Item #9: undisclosed

EDP Item #8: Crud load of DVD entertainment including unopened seasons of tv episodes. Crazy right?
Reason: not big on watching many movies more than once and if we did it probably wouldn't be the best use of time, unless it's Anchorman, of course!
Destination: Will be sold to raise money for Uganda mission trip.
Comment: Really though, what do you do with season 1 and 2 of Las Vegas after you watched season 1 and realized you don't have time to watch 2. Do you wait til you finally have a moment and then waste that moment on the Las Vegas TV series. Naaaaa, I don't think so ;)

EDP Item #4: "smart-phoning" while driving.
Destination: no Texting, FaceBook, internet ect... While driving for 1 year.
Reason: Mental rest and safety
Comment: Do you find that you have the need to check your phone every 5 minutes. Even while driving!!! I do.
Looking for little "digital surprises."
I find this to be consuming of mental capacity while dangerous to myself and others. I need that time in the car to think and be inspired so I am refusing Facebook, texts and Internet while behind the wheel for an initial year commitment. I urge you to take this challenge with me.... For your safety and mental health, peace and margin!
EDP Item #3: Full size egg crate topper
